LEADERS – IN – L.O.H.A.S.*

PEACE SPA OWNERS AND LONG TIME LEADERS IN LOHAS Present:

“Spa Client Acquisition Strategy in Today’s ECO Conscious World”

SPEAKING: Sunday & Monday June 6 & 7TH 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Premier Beauty & SPA Conference-Orange County Convention Center
(*LOHAS: Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability)

June 1, 2010: Jeannette Kravitz has been a leader in the LOHAS* movement for over 10 years. New estimates from the Natural Marketing Institute (NMI) show this segment contributing over $290 Billion in consumer purchases last year. LOHAS consumers don’t identify themselves this way or even know about this acronym. Instead, they lead by their socially conscious buying habits to help the world.

Jeannette and her husband Randy opened PEACE Spa Chicago & worked with aestheticians to develop PEACE Spa Products with a mission to give back. After four-years of in-lab and in-spa operations, the Kravitz’s launched PEACE Spa Products botanic-cosmecuetical line in March 2010 with a sincere dedication to business growth for spa owners and independent aestheticians. Their grass roots marketing and Peace Spa Product sales campaign is called 360 Marketing System™.

“Immediately I felt at home in the skin care business. I needed to figure out a way to grow it large enough to give back and help us expand our charity work. In 2008, we began the journey to create, define and refine our new Peace Spa Product line, débuting this month, to support our nonprofit work and attract the LOHAS market.” says Jeannette.

Why Skincare & Charity: 2010 marks Jeannette and Randy Kravitz’s 10-Year anniversary of giving back through the nonprofit they founded in 2000, sponsorKIDS Charities Peace Journey and “new” 10-year healthier kids advocacy campaign, ECOChallenge2020. In 2006, The Kravitzes sought out the skin care beauty industry. Jeannette felt drawn to the energy, compassion and sense of caring in the spa world. This largely female-focused industry of professional practitioners and owners care about making their clients feel and look their best. Jeannette saw this as the perfect business-match to raise money and awareness for her charitable efforts for kids.

National Family Business Winners Announced – Jeannette Kravitz, CEO PeaceSpa.org Awarded!

(read the article on wemagazineforwomen.com)

In early February WE Magazine for Women ~ for busy women on the move, hosted an online competition to showcase a family-run business with a woman in a decision making capacity. The woman we chose among the entrants would then grace the Cover of our Spring 2010 Issue.

In retrospect, this was by far one of the most difficult tasks our team has had to date. According to one judge, “All the entries could easily be our next cover story. Each one was inspiring and interesting in its own way. Which made it that much more difficult to pick just one!” Although it was a challenging task, the judges rose to the occasion and chose one woman who stood out among all the others. That woman is Georgia Durante of PerformanceTwo.com

Criteria included business acumen, working well with family members, community service and life experiences. In addition to these qualities, Ms. Durante was chosen because her story was a particularly compelling story of challenges and success of working in a family-run business! Here’s an excerpt from her entry: “You have to separate family and business. Business is business. You need to treat family members as you would any other employee or it does not work. If you favor a family member over another employee you will have resentments causing your business to unravel.”

Ms. Durante’s story along with 12 other inspiring women’s stories will be featured in the Spring Issue.

In addition to our Front Cover Story, Polly Elmore of Curry’s Auto Service will grace the back cover. Each of the 13 finalists will receive a Commemorative Cover with their picture on it.

The Finalists include:
1st Place ~ Georgia Duarte of Performance Two ~ www.performancetwo.com
2nd Place ~ Polly Elmore of Curry’s Auto Service www.currysauto.com

Each of the entrants will be showcased on the WE Magazine for Women site. In addition they will be included in our upcoming WE Magazine Hall of FAME section for 2010 which will also include our 2010 Small Business Women Interviews!

According to Heidi Richards Mooney, Publisher & Editor in Chief, “It is an honor to be able to share these fascinating stories with our readers. Each one more inspiring than the last. I only wish we had more room (and time) to include even more women in each of our four issues a year.” You can check out the current issue of WE Magazine for Women here.
